FAQs
What is mental health OT?
A mental health OT helps assess, recommend and implement interventions to help an individual increase their independence and functioning. Examples can be: helping someone to improve their routine around personal care, accessing the community, getting ready to enter the work force, creating strategies to manage their mental health, sensory interventions, cooking, safety, sleep hygiene to name a few.
How often do you work with a client?
This will depend on the preference of the client as well as the funding that is available. This will be discussed at time of assessment.
Where will the work take place?
It is preferred to conduct work in the home as the environment is a key factor when working with someone. Office based appointments are also available, should the home not be suitable.
Where are your offices located?
We are at Suite 10 & 11/325 Centre Rd, Bentleigh, VIC 3204
I just need an assessment and recommendations for an NDIS review, can this be done?
Yes, typically an assessment and associated work with report writing and communication with other providers takes approximately 10 hours.
If I need to end the service, am I locked in to a contract?
As per the consent form, there is no lock in and in accordance with the NDIA and their choice and control policy, participants can end service at the time of their choosing.
I need physical health OT, can this be done too?
Primarily, the expertise is within the mental health setting, however referrals can be accepted for physical health and screened for suitability by the therapist.
What type of work is completed?
OT work is much more practical and task oriented. Creating solutions to issues that are experienced by the participant and to make it easier to achieve their goals. Examples such as travel training, grocery shopping, using technology, creating schedules are a few examples.
Do you offer other NDIS services?
We also have psychology that is available through NDIS funding. An additional referral will need to be sent to access this support.
What is the staff member’s availability?
Currently, OT appointments are available on Monday’s only, however the therapist will be contactable between sessions Mon-Friday 9am-5pm.
